Examining The Chris Cuomo Fredo Video: The One Solid Fact!!

CNN Correspondent Chris Cuomo is seen yelling in the face of a random guy in a viral video, released on Monday. The internet has dubbed it The Chris Cuomo Fredo Video. At first glance the confrontation seems to be just any normal bar dispute.  That is until we examine the video further.  Apparently this random guy came up to Chris Cuomo while he was out with his family and called him Fredo. But the CNN correspondent saw it as a stab at him.  Cuomo even goes so far as to say that it’s a racial slur.  So naturally he gets in the guys face. That is a totally normal reaction, right?  That is until the man in the video claims the Fredo name calling was just an accident saying “I thought that’s who you were.”

Since the release of the video the media has run amok with the Fredo video.  I’ve searched far and wide for the video in order to formulate my own opinion.  The problem, however, is that most of the internet is so over run with influencer edits that the original is hard to find.  Luckily I was able to find the closest video of “original” footage. I think people should watch it and draw their own conclusions here:

Cuomo: “You’re going to have a problem”

Man: “What are you going to do about it?”

Cuomo: “I’ll fuckin ruin your shit. I’ll fucking throw you down these stairs”

In reference to the alleged Fredo ‘slip-up’ Cuomo states that the word Fredo is like “the N-Word” for Italians.

After several searches through the internet, I was unable to connect the word “Fredo” to Italian.  It doesn’t mean that it’s not.  It just means that all evidence currently leads me to conclusively believe that “Fredo” is not a racial slur at all. So I can’t believe that this random guy in the Cuomo Fredo video is race-baiting in any way.  Although it’s notable to point out how quickly this confrontation jumped to talks of racist intent.

The real source of the word Fredo comes from Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh jealously took credit for the Fredo nickname saying “racism had nothing to do with it”.  According to my sources: Limbaugh called Cuomo the name to take a jab at the anchors’ response to communism while appearing in Havana in 2016 while wearing a “guayabera” shit that Fidel Castro had bestowed upon his father.

So here is my interpretation of the Chris Cuomo Fredo Video:

In my opinion, Cuomo reacted appropriately.  He reacted like any of us would react in a similar situation. He saw this guys flippant ‘slip-up’ as an insult. Cuomo’s claim, however, that “Fredo” is a racial slur has no credibility whatsoever.

I think that the random guy in the video is only guilty of giving away his news affiliation.  I don’t think he’s a racist and his dumbfounded look seems to suggest he was caught off guard by Cuomo’s reaction.  Meaning that maybe he is telling the truth and really wasn’t expecting to aggravate the anchor. Random guy even says “I thought it (Fredo) was your name.”

Since there is no circumstantial evidence to conclude that this was in fact a racial slur.  Random guy must have only heard about Cuomo through Rush Limbaugh and never really took the time to learn his real name.  Cuomo even admits in the video: “punk-ass bitches from the right call me Fredo.”

The only thing that I find suspicious about the random guy is that he doesn’t apologize at any time in the video for his ‘slip up.’

My opinion of the Chris Cuomo Fredo video:

It’s hard to form an accurate idea of what really went down that day considering that all of this is riding on a clip that lasts 1:47.  But as for me, however,  I see two unreasonable people.  Neither person attempts to have a civil discussion about the matter.  It all blows up into talks of al Fredo and Racial epitaphs.  Maybe it was due to Chris Cuomos aggression suppressed any resolution of the matter or maybe off-screen the guy was more aggressive and trying to get a rise out of him. So in conclusion…..

Here is my ONE SOLID FACT about the Chris Cuomo Fredo video:

There are definitely two assholes, being assholes in a bar.
